[origin: JPH01121088A] PURPOSE: To exactly mutually position materials by forming stitches aside along with both the hem parts of loosely superposed band-shaped cover material webs and the material of band-shaped filler material webs, spreading and fixing the materials inside a spread frame. CONSTITUTION: In a storage part 67 existing among a pair of clamp webs 39, storage station 19 and a clamping device 63, a finish quilted material piece 21 is taken on a take-up roller 61. After the storage part 67 is completely taken up, the clamping device 63 is closed and at the same time, an air pressure cylinder 70 is moved toward the take-up roller 61 in feeding direction. In this case, means 43 and 46 straining and holding the material piece 21 on the spread frame 13 from four sides are released. Further, the material piece 2 is held by the clamping device 63, and the spread frame 13 is moved to the left. In this case, the spread frame 13 is returned to the side of entrance and quilting process is performed by the coordinate actions of a sewing head 17, gripping device 47 and spread frame 13.

In der Steppmaschine (1) werden die lose aufeinanderliegenden Deckstoff- und Füllstoffbahnen (51,53) während des Einziehens in den Rahmen (13) mittels seitlich des Werkstückes (21) angeordneter Verbindungsvorrichtungen (9) entlang der Kanten verbunden und die ausserhalb der Verbindungsnaht (30) liegenden Abschnitte (31) abgetrennt und abgeführt.
