[origin: WO8809197A1] A ski brake (1) has two wire brake arms (7) pivotally mounted on a base plate (2), the terminal sections (7d) of the said arms being connected through a spring (8). The brake (1) is maintained in the operating position by an actuating pedal (5) arranged on the upper side of the ski, which is depressed against the force of at least one lifting spring (6). The free ends (7a) of the wire brake arms (7) pivot in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the ski (10). To improve the transmission of force from the base plate (2) to the wire brake arms (7) when the actuating pedal (5) is depressed, an intermediate element (a) consisting of a cylindrical sleeve (9a) connected to a projection (9b) is mounted in a hinged manner on the terminal sections (7d). In the operating position, the projection (9b) presses against a supporting surface (2f) of the base plate (2).
