[origin: EP0316641A2] A marking device comprising a marking roller 15 which can be placed by a swivelling movement against the moving sheet-metal strip 11 to be marked contains, in a known manner, two further rollers 16 and 17 for the wetting supply of the marking fluid to the marking roller 15. All three rollers can be moved against adjustable stops 35, 36 and 37 by pneumatic cylinders. The adjustable stops, which are seated on the mountings of the rollers, are preset in an alignment pedestal 51 used as an auxiliary device, in such a way that, when inserted into the marking device, the rollers are in the correct working position without readjustment. The three rollers 15, 16, 17 are driven at the same peripheral speed by a toothed belt. By virtue of the swivelling movement of the rollers during the return stroke of the pneumatic cylinders, the rollers are separated from one another and from the sheet-metal strip 11 and, in addition, the marking fluid 18 is tipped out of the tray 19, into which the dipping roller 17 dips, via an overflow 38. <IMAGE>
