[origin: EP0316673A2] A device for clamping printing plates (9) for printing machines has two tension bars (2) which are arranged in a recess (1) in the cylinder and extend under an end region of the printing plate to be clamped and whose outer contours when the plate is clamped have the same curvature as does the cylinder and each of which is bounded by a pressure area (3) engaging with a bent-down edge claw (10) of the printing plate to be clamped, an elastic tube (7) being positioned between the pressure areas of the tension bars and the tension bars themselves, and the tension bars being capable of adjustment in the tensioning direction of the printing plate by means of two cams (11) arranged in recesses, and, while the printing plates are being clamped, the tension bars being capable of rotation about a roller (8) arranged between the tension bars. <IMAGE>
