The invention relates to a method and an installation for producing very accurate long metallic fibres of circular cross-section and amorphous or metastable or crystalline structure which are produced by chilling the liquid metal fibres in water. Chilling is effected in a laminar flow in a rectilinear stationary channel, resistance reducers being added to the water. <IMAGE>

Es werden ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Erzeugen sehr genauer, im Querschnitt kreisrunder, langer, metallischer Fasern von amorpher oder metastabiler oder kristalliner Struktur beschrieben, die durch Abschrecken der flüssigen metallischen Fasern in Wasser erzeugt werden. Das Abschrecken erfolgt in einer laminaren Strömung in einem geradlinigen ruhenden Kanal, wobei dem Wasser Widerstandsverminderer zugesetzt werden.
