The closing of the valve is obtained by means of the hydrostatic pressure of washing lye left behind in a flow-off line and/or by means of a quantity of fresh water supplied by way of a fresh-water line at the beginning of a washing operation. The supply of fresh water increases the outlay in terms of construction and of control. To supply fresh water for the purpose of closing the valve (22), one end of the fresh-water line (24) is so arranged in a simple way that leakage water occurring along a free flow stage (10) can be received. The arrangement makes it possible in a simple and reliable way to ensure that detergent or the like dispensed for washing is not wasted in a flow-off connection pipe. <IMAGE>
