[origin: EP0318120A1] It is known, in lye containers for washing machines or the like, to connect an end wall releasably to a basic body. The basic body and end wall, which can both be produced from sheet metal, have a first and a second shaped region, between which a receiving space for a sealing ring can be formed. A first and a second end portion adjoin the respective shaped regions. The basic body and end wall can be connected by screwing the two end portions together by means of tension rods. The end wall is stiffened as a result of the bearing of an annular compensating weight. The production of a connection of this type involves a high outlay. Because the two end portions (6, 7) are each made hollow- cylindrical and can be connected to one another via fastening screws (9) and/or clamping springs (35) distributed over the circumference, the basic body (1) and end wall (5) can be connected in a simple way. The lye container is suitable for use in washing machines, laundry dryers or the like. It can also be designed leakproof for heavy loads and can be easily assembled. <IMAGE>
