Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0318802A1] The invention relates to a weft insertion device for pneumatic looms having flush-disposed main insertion nozzles, a funnel-shaped alignment aid and a guide channel along the reed. In contradistinction to existing devices of this kind, the invention provides that only the insertion nozzles be pivoted together with the reed in the course of the beating-up of the weft thread, whereas the alignment aid is fixed and its funnel-shaped, tapered opening for the weft thread is constructed as a slot which extends over part of the pivot path of the guide channel provided at the reed and which is also open in the direction of the weft thread shears. Since the components are close together in the weft direction, the weft thread drop is kept to a minimum. The effectiveness of the weft thread shears is in no way impaired and the time available for weft insertion is increased or the weaving rate of the loom can be increased. <IMAGE>
