[origin: WO8810438A1] The invention is a polymer optical waveguide which comprises: (A) a core comprising an aromatic ester carbonate or a blend of an aromatic ester carbonate with a bisphenol based polycarbonate; and (B) a clad of a polymer which adheres to the core and has a lower refractive index than the aromatic ester carbonate or the blend of an aromatic ester carbonate and a bisphenol based polycarbonate wherein said optical waveguide transmits light through the core.

Un guide d'ondes optique en un matériau polymère comprend: (A) une âme en un carbonate d'ester aromatique ou en un mélange d'un carbonate d'ester aromatique avec un polycarbonate à base bisphénol; et (B) une gaine en polymère qui adhère à l'âme et présente un indice de réfraction inférieur à celui du carbonate d'ester aromatique ou du mélange du carbonate d'ester aromatique et du carbonate à base bisphénol. Ce guide d'ondes optique transmet la lumière à travers l'âme.
