[origin: EP0319700A1] The mobile vacuum cleaner has a suction hose (8), which can be connected to a suction opening of its housing (1), a front wheel (5) arranged swivelably on the underside of the housing (1) towards the front side of said housing, and two floor wheels (3) arranged to the sides of the housing (1) towards its rear side. Obstacles are bypassed by in a targeted manner due to the fact that there is assigned to the front wheel (5) an adjustment drive (6) which causes the swivelling of said front wheel and is controlled in its swivelling movement in dependence on the direction of the toactive force exerted via the suction hose (8), that, furthermore, sensors (10) are arranged in the housing (1), by means of which sensors obstacles (12) situated at least in the front region of the housing (1) opposite the latter can be recognised, and that the output signals, relayed by these sensors (10), are superimposed on the control of the adjustment drive. <IMAGE>
