[origin: WO8801592A1] A plastics material packaging for meat or other goods (3). The packaging has a base (1) and a skin wrapping material (7) for said meat or other goods (3). A desired gas to enhance the keeping qualities of the meat or other goods is provided in a free space (11) above the skin (7) and below the lid (9). The gas can pass through the skin (7) to contact the surface of the meat or other goods (3). The skin (7) is bonded to the base (1) so that the meat or other goods (3) are compressed between the skin (7) and the base (1). The arrangement is such that the skin (7) will be substantially continuously under tension forces (23). This maintains a desirable skin packaging of the meat or other goods over extended periods of time. A method and apparatus for producing the packaging are also disclosed.
