Inside a protective tube (8) made of heat resistant steel, supported by a furnace wall, and carrying fuel and air supply elements (4,5) at its outer end is a burner (3) followed by a flame tube (6). This is made of sections of ceramic fibre material. The ends of the tube sections are shaped so that they interlock with each other to form the flame tube and adhesive is sued at the joints to form a seal. The wall thickness and heat resistance of the section can vary. The flame tube can be supported inside the steel tube by longitudinal ribs, forming a space (13) for combustion gases discharged through holes (14) through the wall of the outer end of the flame tube.

Ein Flammrohr (6, 6', 6"), in dem der Brenner (3) eines Strahlrohres muendet, ist aus einem einzigen oder aus mehreren aus Keramifaserwerkstoffen geformten hohlzylindrischen Elementen realisiert. Da genanntes Werkstoff nicht nur hochtempersturbestaendig sondern auch elastisch ist, besitzt ein derartiges Flammrohr eine viel groessere Haltbarkeit als die bis jetzt bekannten aus Metall oder aus kompakten keramischen Werkstoffen. Wenn das Flammrohr aus mehreren hintereinander angeordneten hohlzylindrischen Elementen zusammengesetzt ist, koennen diese so geformt sein, dass sie an den aeussersten Enden durch Einschub und Kleben verbunden werden koennen. Je nach der Art des Strahlrohres fuer welches in Anwendung kommt, kann ein derartiges Flammrohr in einem Metallrohr eingesetzt und gehalten werden (2,9) bzw., im Falle eines Mantelrohres, entweder frei oder mit dazu bestimmten Abstandsrippen im Aussenrohre (8) sitzen.
