On running off a molten bath (11) through a running-off opening (7) arranged laterally in the bottom (2) of a tiltable round or oval metallurgical vessel (1), in particular of an electric arc furnace, a slag-free running-off is achieved in that there is provided in the region above the running-off opening (7) at least one blowing device (burner 10) which is arranged inside on the side wall of the vessel and by means of which the slag (12) is removed from this region.

Beim Abstechen einer Metallschmelze (11) durch eine seitlich im Boden (2) eines kippbaren runden oder ovalen metallurgischen Gefäßes (1), insbesondere eines Elektrolichtbogenofens, angeordnete Abstichöffnung (7), wird ein schlackenfreies Abstechen dadurch erzielt, daß im Bereich oberhalb der Abstichöffnung (7) durch mindestens eine innen an der Seitenwand des Gefäßes angeordnete Blasvorrichtung (Brenner 10) vorgesehen ist, durch die die Schlacke (12) aus diesem Bereich entfernt wird.
