[origin: EP0321971A2] The method serves to dress grinding wheels (10) whose surface (16) is provided with an embedding compound for CBN-crystals. A rotating dressing roll (11) is guided along the oppositely rotating surface (16) of the grinding wheel (10). <??>In order to produce sharp-edged tips on the CBN-grains (20) during dressing and to obtain sufficiently large intermediate spaces between the CBN-crystals (20) as chip spaces in the embedding compound, the dressing roll (11) is guided at least twice along the surface (16), the dressing roll (11) being guided the first time at a first, high feed rate (v3) in such a way that dressing crystals of the dressing roll (11) elastically deflect the CBN-grains (20) but set back the embedding compound, whereas the dressing roll (11) is guided the second time at a second, lower feed rate (v4) in such a way that the dressing crystals split up the CBN-grains (20) at their tips (Fig. 2). <IMAGE>
