Folding device for folding sheets of material to be folded (21), with a rotatable cassette (3) which receives a part of the material to be folded (21) between two parallel folding plates (10, 11), and with folding rams (5, 6) which are arranged outside the cassette (3), receive the cassette (3) between them, can be moved apart by rotating the cassette (3), and have on their inner sides guide surfaces (16, 17), which interact with the folding plates (10, 11), for parts of material to be folded which project beyond the folding plates (10, 11). The cassette (3) can be rotated by 180 DEG between the folding rams (5, 6) from a receiving position for the material to be folded (21) with guide surfaces (16, 17) adjacent to the folding plates (10, 11), via a central position with guide surfaces (16, 17) perpendicular to the folding plates (10, 11), into a delivery position with guide surfaces (16, 17) adjacent to the folding plates (10, 11). In the receiving position and in the delivery position, folding rams (5, 6) and cassette (3) lie against one another under gravity and/or spring force. Faltvorrichtung zum Falten von Faltgutbögen (21), mit einer drehbaren Kassette (3), die einen Teil des Faltgutes (21) zwischen zwei parallelen Faltplatten (10.11) aufnimmt, und mit außerhalb der Kassette (3) angeordneten, die Kassette (3) zwischen einander aufnehmende, durch Drehen der Kassette (3) auseinanderbewegbare Faltstempel (5,6), die an ihren Innenseiten mit den Faltplatten (10,11) zusammenwirkende Führungsflächen (16,17) für über die Faltplatten (10,11) hinausragende Faltgutteile aufweisen. Die Kassette (3) ist zwischen den Faltstempeln (5,6) aus einer Aufnahmestellung für das Faltgut (21) mit den Faltplatten (10,11) benachbarten Führungsflächen (16,17) über eine Mittelstellung mit zu den Faltplatten (10,11) senkrechten Führungsflächen (16,17) in eine Ausgabestellung mit den Faltplatten (10,11) benachbarten Führungsflächen (16,17) um 180° umdrehbar. In der Aufnahmestellung und in der Ausgabestellung liegen Faltstempel (5,6) und Kassette (3) unter Schwerkraft und/oder Federkraft aneinander. Durch Drehen der Kassette (3) ist ein Faltstempel (5) entgegen der Schwer- und/oder Federkraft vom anderen Faltstempel (6) wegdrückbar.
