[origin: EP0322735A2] With ovens, particularly built-in ovens, there is the problem that fat-containing cooking fumes passing out from the cooking chamber condense on adjacent parts of furniture. In known ovens, therefore, so-called afterburners (catalytic self-cleaning) are placed in the fume flow path, or else fat filters, directly in an opening in the cooking chamber. Furthermore, reduction in fume condensation is attempted by mixing the hot fumes with cooler air from the vicinity of the cooking chamber by means of a cooling blower, thus reducing the temperature of the fumes. By means of the innovation, a still more efficient removal of the fat components of the fumes is accomplished by passing the mixed air through a high surface area, easily changeable fat filter. <IMAGE>
