The invention relates to a sealing element, especially for joint sealing, having a foam material element (2) which returns elastically to its original shape, delayed as a consequence of impregnation, and which has an essentially air-proof surround (3). In order to achieve better sealing of such a sealing element with applicability which is known to be advantageous, the invention proposes that the surround (3) form an opening region (5) in which the foam material element (2) is exposed. <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Dichtungselement, insbesondere zur Fugenabdichtung, mit einem zufolge Tränkung verzögert elastisch rückstellfähigem Schaumstoffelement (2), welches eine im wesentlichen luftdichte Umhüllung (3) aufweist. Um bei bekannt vorteilhafter Anwendbarkeit eines derartigen Dichtungselementes eine verbesserte Dichtigkeit zu erreichen, schlägt die Erfindung vor, daß die Umhüllung (3) einen Öffnungsbereich (5) ausbildet, in welchem das Schaumstoffelement (2) freigelegt ist.
