[origin: EP0323623A1] For grouping together at least two layers, each consisting of an odd number of ISO container bodies (20, 21, 22; 30, 31, 32) by detachable coupling of corner brackets, two adjacent corner brackets of two containers (20, 22; 20, 21) of the one layer and an adjacent corner bracket of a container of the other layer (20, 32, 20, 31) are aligned relative to one another and the lateral anchorage openings of the aligned corner brackets of the one layer are connected by coupling elements (50; 150) which essentially prevent displacement of the containers relative to one another parallel to the planes of their side walls and perpendicular to the plane of the side walls and absorb shearing forces. The upper and lower anchorage openings of the aligned corner brackets of the containers (21, 31; 22, 32), situated in different layers, are coupled by central twist locks (55) which essentially prevent displacement of the containers relative to one another parallel to the planes of their base surfaces and perpendicular to the plane of the base surfaces and absorb shearing forces. The aligned corner brackets, which are laterally offset in the vertical plane, are coupled by means of clamping elements (52, 152) via their end-face anchorage openings. <IMAGE>
