[origin: WO8802438A1] A rotary machine which may operate as an internal combustion engine, fluid motor, fluid pump or compressor. The rotary machine comprises a machine housing (11) having a cavity (13). A rotor (23) is rotatably supported in the cavity. A plurality of sliding vanes (31) are arranged to form with the housing (11) and the rotor (23) a plurality of chambers (35) which vary in volume on relative rotation between the rotor and the housing. The rotor (23) can be shifted relative to the housing (11) in a direction transverse to the axis of rotation of the rotor in order to vary the volumetric capacity of each chamber (35) at any rotational position. The means for selectively shifting the rotor (23) relative to the machine housing (11) comprises bearings rotatably supporting the rotor and mounted in respective bearing housings. The bearing housings are selectively rotatable about an axis eccentric to the rotational axis of the rotor whereby rotation of the bearing housings effects said shifting movement of the rotor relative to the machine housing. Also disclosed is an arrangement of seals on the rottor which serve to maintain sealing of the chambers whilst accommodating shifting movement of the rotor.

Une machine rotative, qui peut servir de moteur à combustion interne, de moteur à fluide, de pompe à fluide ou de compresseur, comprend un logement de machine (11) formant une cavité (13) dans laquelle un rotor (23) est monté de façon rotative. Plusieurs aubes coulissantes (31) sont prévues de façon à former avec le logement (11) et le rotor (23) plusieurs chambres (35) dont le volume varie lors de la rotation relative entre le rotor et le logement. Le rotor (23) peut être déplacé par rapport au logement (11) dans un sens transversal à l'axe de rotation du rotor, afin de faire varier la capacité volumétrique de chaque chambre (35) dans n'importe quelle position de rotation. L'organe servant à déplacer sélectivement le rotor (23) par rapport au logemement de machine (11) comprend des paliers soutenant de façon rotative le rotor et montés dans des logements de palier respectifs. Lesdits logements de palier tournent de façon sélective autour d'un axe excentrique par rapport à l'axe de rotation du rotor, la rotation desdits logements de palier provoquant ainsi le déplacement du rotor par rapport au logement de machine. Est également décrit un ensemble de joints d'étanchéité qui sont disposés sur le rotor et qui servent à préserver l'étanchéité des chambres tout en suivant les déplacements du rotor.
