Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0324069A2] Wheelchairs generally have large drive wheels (3) and small guide wheels (5), wheelchairs for inside use having the drive wheels at the back, and wheelchairs for outside use having the drive wheels (3) at the front. <??>In the electric wheelchair according to the invention, the seat assembly (6) is mounted over the undercarriage (1) by means of a support column (14) and can be pivoted about a perpendicular axis so that, depending on the intended use of the wheelchair, the large drive wheels are arranged alternatively to the front or back of the seating direction. In this way the wheelchair can be used optimally both inside and outside. <??>Additional positioning possibilities of the seat assembly, for example +/- 90 DEG to the undercarriage, provide the user with new application possibilities. <??>An optimal operation of the wheelchair is achieved by means of an automatic change-over of the control lever according to the position of the seat assembly. <IMAGE>
