Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0324127A2] The carrying line (5) on which a person can be suspended by means of a safety harness is lowered or raised in a controlled manner via the cable drum (1). The endless drive cable (16) running over the drive wheel (15) serves to control the movement. The lifting is effected by the suspended person pulling on one side of the cable, by the control and drive mechanism (12) via the reduction gearing (14), whereas the friction coupling between the drive wheel (15), the notched wheel (21) with the friction linings (210, 211) and the flange sleeve (20) of the main shaft (2) is released by pulling on the other side of the drive cable (16), and the controlled and braked lowering is effected by the drive cable. When the person lets go of the drive cable (16), full braking is immediately effected. The catches (24) engaging in notches (22) provide a safeguard against return travel during lifting. The device can be used for any activity on perpendicular walls or masts where secured suspension from the topmost part is possible. The advantage consists in the fact that the person fastened to the device can move up or down without an additional aid and can be secured and can work with both hands when stopped. <IMAGE>
