Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0324160A1] Hinged-lid boxes, in particular for cigarettes, are equipped with a collar which extends in the region of the front wall and side walls of a box part of the hinged-lid box and projects from said part. The collar is formed from a collar blank which is cut from a web of material consisting of thin cardboard, by application to the package contents, in particular a cigarette block. <??>In efficient packaging machines, the hinged-lid boxes are produced in two production paths which run side by side. Accordingly, at the same time two collar blanks (10, 11, 12) must be fed to the cigarette blocks (15, 16) to be packed at the same time. The collar blanks (10..) are, for reasons of space, cut from a single web of material (13) and then grouped in pairs so as to lie one next to the other and finally transported by means of a transversely directed feeding conveyor (41) into the region of a transfer station (14). <??>The essentially Z-shaped paths of movement of the collar blanks (10, 11, 12) permit efficient and exact as well as interference-free conveyance of the collar blanks until they are transferred to the package contents. <IMAGE>
