Abstract (en)
The safety system is for use with apparatus having a movable conductive member (3) such as a derrick which might be elevated near overhead electric power lines. The derrick carries at least one electric field sensor (7) providing a signal representative of the strength of the electric field. An electronic system (23,32,44,48) is responsive to the signal to disable further actuation of the derrick, to brake its movement and to provide an alarm to the operator.
