[origin: EP0324223A2] Specific attributes or characteristics of a desired high quality, high durability print image are identified and quantified. The parameters of the printing system which have a direct influence upon the print image characteristics are also identified and quantified. A system for controlling each of the printing system parameters, individually and in combination, is provided so that a print image exhibiting optimal characteristics may be reproduced consistently and accurately, regardless of variations in substrates or printing environments.
