[origin: EP0324383A2] A gas appliance is connected to a gas supply pipe (8) by a valve. The valve body (3) has a horizontal bore and a vertical bore which do not intersect each other. The horizontal bore has a screw thread at each end to enable it to be fitted in the gas supply pipeline. The vertical bore receives a rotatable tapered plug (5). In one position of the plug, the outlet from the horizontal bore is shut off. In the other position the outlet from the horizontal bore is shut off. In the other position the outlet from the horizontal bore is connected to the outlet (9) in the lower part of the valve body. This outlet is connected to the gas appliance.
