[origin: EP0324676A1] According to this method, the photo-cathode is built up inside the tube by depositing a photoelectric material on a conductive substrate (3), by vacuum evaporation. The optical transparency of this deposit is determined, during deposition, by illuminating it with a light source (12). According to the invention, this light source is situated inside the tube and is protected from the vapours of the photoelectric material.
