[origin: EP0324881A1] A household water heater (1) enclosing a cylindrical hot water tank (20) is used to heat the ambient air by passing it along the hot water tank (20). This heating is stopped when the surrounding area is warmed to a required temperature. The cylindrical hot water tank (20) is enclosed in an outer shell which is lined up with the surface of the respective adjacent wall so that on both sides of the tank adequate spaces are left for the installation of vertical channels (17, 18) for passing the air to be heated along the surface of the hot water tank.
