[origin: EP0325735A2] Shown and described is a lamp socket (10) having an insulating body (11) and connecting terminals (12, 13) for mains conductors (24), which terminals are provided in the insulating body (11), are in particular screwless, and are allocated to lamp contacts (14, 15), the connecting terminals (12, 13) being accessible through conductor insertion openings (17) and, if required, auxiliary openings for a releasing tool (19), which openings are provided particularly in a base wall (16) of the insulating material body (11). In order to meet the requirements of the so-called "Protection Class II" for lights in the case of such a lamp socket, according to the invention it is provided that the conductor insertion openings (17) and the auxiliary openings (18) are surrounded by insulating material collars (21, 22) which are integrally formed on the insulating body (11) and whose outer end faces maintain a distance of at least 8 mm from live elements (terminals 12, 13), each insulating material collar (21, 22) preferably forming a channel with closed edges. <IMAGE>
