[origin: EP0325880A1] This braiding machine is of the type comprising pinions (5), wheels (6) for orienting the spindles (28) and an axial support (17) on which are articulated picker blades (19). According to the invention, the rotational connection of each wheel (6) to its drive pinion (5) is made by wedging members, the wedging and unwedging of which are controlled by a cage interposed between pinion and wheel, in frictional contact with the pinion (5) and comprising at least one outer projecting finger bearing against a moveable lock (54) in dependence on the programming, whilst each wheel (6) is equipped, on the one hand, with a peripheral cam profile (43) interacting with a pusher (44) for controlling the movement of one of the picker blades and, on the other hand, with radial notches capable of coming into abutment on the fingers of the cage. <IMAGE>
