[origin: EP0325923A2] The pencil lead is introduced into a tube slightly greater in diameter than the pencil lead and made of a heat-shrinkable plastic material. The tube and pencil lead are then heated together to cause the plastic material to shrink onto the outer surface of said pencil lead.
