[origin: EP0326012A2] Bulk vegetable material, especially bulk material in the form of wood chips, is conditioned for the manufacture of cellulose pulp in a silo (2) by means of steam. The steam must be introduced into the wood chips under strict temperature accuracy and distributed as freely and uniformly as possible. <??>To this end, the steam inlet nozzles (15) are so arranged at different points in the silo (2) that they are distributed with a high degree of uniformity and are shielded to prevent blockage by the bulk material. <??>The equipment is particularly intended for the conditioning of vegetable chips, especially of wood chips, for the manufacture of cellulose pulp or predominantly fibres for the production of paper and cardboard as well as the manufacture of fibre board. <IMAGE>
