[origin: EP0326784A1] A process for the deceleration of a running yarn or yarn-like structure is undertaken without clamping the yarn and involves at least one partial wrapping of the yarn at least two brake elements. The yarn tension device for carrying out the process incorporates a brake support connected to a brake body and a brake block acting in conjunction with the body. The movement of the block is controlled by a control unit. The brake body features a component which can be deflected against the force of a force element during a transverse force transmitted by the yarn.
