Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0327091A2] In a process for optimising the running properties of synthetic yarns during air texturing processes by wetting the yarns by spraying with process water as the yarns pass through a texturing nozzle, polyalkylene glycol compounds are added to the process water. The molecular weights of the polyalkylene glycol compounds range from 1,000 to 6,000 daltons, preferably from 2,000 to 4,000 daltons. The final concentration of the polyalkylene glycol compounds added is between 2 and 6 per cent by weight, preferably between 3 and 5 per cent by weight. Process water which has been treated in this way prevents the undesirable lodging of fibre deposits in the nozzle unit, extends nozzle life, increases processing speed and reduces process water consumption.
