The invention relates to an explosive projectile for generating splinters. <??>Known explosive projectiles or warheads are made relatively thick-walled in order to guarantee firing resistance in the rear region. This leads, during the explosive break-up, to a particular splinter size or to a widely varying splinter characteristic between the projectile casing and projectile base. <??>To avoid such disadvantages, there is provided, according to the invention, a splinter projectile or warhead which has a projectile base of approximately the same thickness as the projectile casing and which therefore possesses a more uniform splinter characteristic. The reduction in wall thickness in the rear region of the projectile is achieved, at the same time with a reduction of sensitivity to a radial gas-pressure load, in that, in the rear region, the projectile casing 12 is made cylindrical and so as to reach as far as the projectile base 38, the driving band 40 is arranged in direct proximity to the projectile base 38 and the projectile base 38 is curved outwards in a dome-shaped manner. <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Sprenggeschoß zur Splittererzeugung. Bekannte Sprenggeschosse, bzw. Gefechtsköpfe sind zur Gewährleistung der Abschußfestigkeit im Heckbereich relativ dickwandig ausgebildet. Dies führt bei Sprengzerlegung zu einer gewissen Splittergröße, bzw. zu einer sehr unterschiedlichen Splittercharakteristik -von Geschoßhülle und Geschoßboden. Um derartige Nachteile zu vermeiden, wird erfindungsgemäß ein Splittergeschoß, bzw. ein Gefechtskopf vorgeschlagen, das/der einen Geschoßboden von etwa der gleichen Stärke wie die Geschoßhülle aufweist und daher eine gleichmäßigere Splittercharakteristik besitzt. Die Wandstärkenverminderung im Geschoßheckbereich wird unter Reduzierung der Empfindlichkeit gegen radiale Gasdruckbeaufschlagung dadurch erreicht, daß die Geschoßhülle 12 im Heckbereich bis an den Geschoßboden 38 reichend zylindrisch ausgebildet, das Führungsband 40 in direkter Nähe zum Geschoßboden 38 angeordnet und der Geschoßboden 38 kalottenförmig nach außen ausgewölbt ist.
