Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0327879A2] The apparatus consists of at least one cuff (2) with a number of chambers (13). The cuff can be applied around the limb of the patient to be treated and, following this, it is possible to inflate and remove air from the chambers (13) with the aid of valves (15). <??>To obtain an optimum treatment of the patient and a simple construction of the apparatus, all the valves (15) are connected in series and can be controlled one after the other in a cascade fashion via a common control line (12). In addition, a supply line (11) and the control line (12) are connected only to the first valve (15a), whereas, downstream, in each case two adjacent valves (15) are connected to one another by supply and control line sections (11a to e and 12a to e). <??>The valve body (29) of each valve (15a, 15) separates a supply space (33) of the valve, which communicates constantly on the one hand with a supply line part and on the other hand with the associated chamber, from a control space (32) of the valve communicating with the control line. After the associated chamber (13) has been filled, the valve body (29) of the valve releases a valve opening (30), as a result of which supply air can pass to the next valve (15) in each case, in order to inflate the chamber (13) belonging to this valve.
