Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0327948A2] A refuse vehicle having a dumping unit opening which is open at the top and situated between the driver's cab and the collecting container of the vehicle is provided with a lifting and tipping device which consists of at least one lifting arm which can be pivoted about a transverse axis of the dumping unit or of the chassis. The lifting arm bears at its free end an arm which is parallel to the transverse axis, can be pivoted between its receiving region in front of the driver's cab and its dumping region above and behind the driver's cab and is provided with a claw for engaging in receiving pockets of refuse containers for seizing them. In order to be able to lift and empty the refuse container while at the same time moving a relatively small dead weight, there is mounted underneath the arm (8, 8') on the refuse vehicle a carrier (11, 11') which can be displaced transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, is provided with a drive, carries at least two suckers (13) at its outer end and can be moved between its outer position in which the suckers (13) can grasp laterally disposed refuse containers (14), and in its inner position in which the suckers (13) are situated in front of the claw (9, 9') and the receiving pocket (15) of a sucked-on refuse container (14) which is situated above said claw.
