[origin: EP0328034A2] A tool-grinding machine has a machine frame, a table traversable horizontally along the x-axis, a first indexing attachment with a chuck, and a tailstock on the table, a grinding head traversable horizontally along the y-axis and vertically along the z-axis, and also a drivable grinding spindle which projects from the grinding head and to which a grinding wheel can be fastened for machining a workpiece clamped in the first indexing attachment. In order to realise precise vertical traversability of the grinding head with an enlarged clearance space at the workpiece, the tool-grinding machine has a vertical machine column traversable along the y-axis and a carriage which is vertically traversable on the machine column and on which the grinding head is rotatably mounted about an axis (C-axis) lying in a vertical plane. <IMAGE>
