Abstract (en)
In a tumble drier in which the drying air flow through the drum (1) is impelled by a fan (17) driven by the motor (5) which drives the drum (1), an efficient fan (17), such as one in a volute housing (18) is used. The drum (1) is periodically reversed in rotation to avoid tangling but, in accordance with the invention, the periods of forward rotation for which the fan (17) is acting efficiently are greater than the periods of backward rotation.
