[origin: EP0328716A1] A welding device for welding contact pieces to a carrier material (50) has two electrodes (26, 30), held on a housing (1, 2), between which the contact pieces and the carrier material (50) can be inserted with the aid of separated feed devices. Synchronisation devices (5, 6) are used for synchronisation of the feed movements of the feed devices (7, 13, 19, 20, 21) and of the movements of at least one of the electrodes. At least one of the electrodes (26) has an electrode insert (27) with engagement parts for engagement with a contact piece resting on one surface of the carrier material (50) and this electrode (26) can be rotated about a longitudinal axis (26a) extending essentially at right angles to the surface of the carrier material, in order to rotate the contact piece located between the carrier material (50) and the electrode insert (27) into any desired angular position with respect to the flow direction of the carrier material (50). Rotating drive devices (37, 38) for the electrode (26) are likewise synchronised with the aid of synchronising devices (5, 6). <IMAGE>
