Abstract (en)

[origin: JPH028699A] PURPOSE: To fracture a fragmentation jacket into fragments of desired size by breaking a ring into a large number of segments jointed through sintering. CONSTITUTION: A fragmentation jacket 15 comprises six rings 14, for example, made of a sintered metal, especially of a heavy metal. These rings 14 are provided with scheduled fracture parts 22-24 and fractured into fragments of desired size by an explosive charge 18. The scheduled fracture parts may have various shapes. For example, a tubular draw-out part 22 is present in the ring 14 while opening inward and extending in the longitudinal direction, or a draw-out part 23 having triangular cross-section extends in the longitudinal direction through the ring 14 while opening inward, or the ring 14 is divided into a large number of segments 24 jointed through sintering. The invention is not limited by these shapes.
