Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0328917A1] A door closer must allow rapid opening, damped closing and forcible rapid closing. Furthermore, in the final closing movement, a rapid vigorous closing movement must take the place of the slow throttled closing movement, so that it is possible for a lock latch to be actuated. An overflow valve (22) designed in a special way makes it possible, in conjunction with the conventional throttle channels and throttle valves, to perform these various functions in a simple way. In interaction with a run-on member (34) accessible from outside and actuable by means of a tool, this overflow valve (22) makes it possible to vary the opening angle of the door determining the unthrottled final closing movement. Moreover, the overflow valve acting as a relief valve prevents damage because it makes it possible to reduce the sometimes very high pressure in the front cylinder space which is generated when the leaf is closed by hand. <IMAGE>
