[origin: EP0329078A2] In the coil for an electromagnetic relay, a response delay is achieved using a short-circuit tube (10) which forms the supporting part of the coil former and takes the place of a plastic tube which would otherwise be used. The short-circuit tube has flanges (11, 12) extruded on the ends, while only a thin insulating layer (13) is provided with respect to the winding (14) in the region between the flanges. <??>The invention permits a considerable response delay of the relay without modifying the dimensions of the winding and core. <IMAGE>
