There are disclosed a heat pump compressor and a method for curtailing power for driving said compressor, in which a cooling liquid (W) is atomized and sprayed into a vapor (S) being compressed in the compressor (1) to control rise of the temperature of the vapor by utilizing the evaporation of the atomized and sprayed liquid.
