L'invention concerne un procédé de désasphaltage d'une charge hydrocarbonée lourde, du type dans lequel la charge est soumise à un cisaillement, éventuellement avant et/ou après addition d'une partie de solvant. Selon l'invention, en combinaison avec l'utilisation d'un cisaillement, on ajoute à la charge un additif polaire avant et/ou après ledit cisaillement.
