[origin: WO8908185A1] An installation for purifying the exhaust fumes of an internal combustion engine in operation has a hot gas line (10) separated from the fuel supply that opens into the combustion air intake channel (4) and a catalysing element (7) through which the gas flows and which contains rare earths, in particular cerium, arranged in the line (10). The catalysing element (7) has an alloy body (9) of composition metal and the hot gas is moistened air or exhaust fumes from the engine.

Eine Einrichtung zur Reinigung der Abgase einer Brennkraftmaschine im Betrieb, wobei eine von der Kraftstoffversorgung gesonderte Leitung (10) für hei8es Gas in den Ansaugkanal (4) für die Verbrennungsluft mündet und ein von dem Gas durchströmtes katalytisches Element (7) enthaltend seltene Erden, insbesondere Cerium, in der Leitung (10) vorgesehen ist, zeichnet sich dadurch aus, daß das katalytische Element (7) einen Legierungskörper (9) aus Mischmetall aufweist und daß das heiße Gas entweder befeuchtete Luft oder das Abgas der Maschine ist.
