The push button switch has a housing (1) and a switching part (5) which is supported such that it can move axially therein. A push button cap (10), used as an operating device, has a base part (6) with a tubular projection (6a), which is latched on the switching part (5), and a removable, at least partially translucent, protecting cap (8). In the cavity delineated by the base part (6) and the protecting cap (8) there is arranged an display element (7) having at least one light-emitting diode and/or a liquid-crystal visual display, the display element (7) essentially being formed by means of a small plate at right angles to the movement direction of the push button caps and also being provided with electrical connections. Such an LED or LCD display element (7) requires only a small amount of electrical energy and has a high service life in comparison with a filament lamp. <IMAGE>

Der Tastschalter weist ein Gehäuse (1) und einen axial in diesem verschiebbar gelagerten Schaltteil (5) auf. Eine als Betätigungsorgan dienende Tastkappe (10) weist einen Basisteil (6) mit einem rohrförmigen, am Schaltteil (5) verrasteten Fortsatz (6a) und eine wegnehmbare, mindestens zum Teil lichtdurchlässige Schutzkappe (8) auf. Im vom Basisteil (6) und der Schutzkappe (8) begrenzten Hohlraum ist ein Anzeigeelement (7) mit mindestens einer Leuchtdiode und/oder einer Flüssigkristall-Sichtanzeige angeordnet, wobei das Anzeigeelement (7) im wesentlichen durch ein zur Verschieberichtung der Tastkappen rechtwinkliges Plättchen gebildet und noch mit elektrischen Anschlüssen versehen ist. Ein derartiges LED- oder LCD-Anzeigeelement (7) benötigt im Vergleich zu einer Glühlampe nur wenig elektrische Energie und hat eine hohe Lebensdauer.
