Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0329947A1] With conical bobbins driven at a specific working speed, the circumferential speed of the bobbin at its two ends differs clearly from the circumferential speed in the longitudinal centre. These deviations are the greater, the smaller the particular outside diameter D of the bobbin and the higher the conicity of the bobbin. During piecing, the result of this is an adverse increase in the yarn tension (yarn breaks) or a loosening of the yarn (uneven winding). By means of the new method and the devices making it possible to carry it out, yarn breaks or an uneven winding pattern are avoided during the bobbin change and the piecing. In order, during piecing, to eliminate speed differences between the standard speed and the circumferential speed of the bobbin in the run-on region of the yarn, an actual outside diameter (D, D1, D2) of the bobbin or empty tube is determined and the driving speed of the bobbin or empty tube is varied in relation to the working speed as a function of the actual outside diameter. This method and these devices allow the high-speed winding of even sensitive yarns. <IMAGE>
