Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0330119A2] The object of the invention is a plug connection for electrical cables, having a first and a second plug connector part. The two plug connector parts contain a plurality of contact elements and coded- fitment elements for external coding. The coded-fitment elements must be effectively connected to one another on assembly of the two plug connector parts. The two plug connector parts are connected to one another on their longitudinal sides in each case via plates (51) and a housing containing the one plug connector part. The plates (51), which extend on both sides of the plug connector parts in each case over the length of the shorter plug connector part, have latching hooks (62) on one side, each of which grips over one edge on the housing, and legs (14) on the other side, which project into plug sockets on the other plug connector part. The coded-fitment elements can be fitted to the plate (51), into a position which projects with respect to the plane of the plate, at the same distance as the longitudinal pitch of the contact elements, in which position they project over the plane of the plate approximately by the depth of a depression which is opened for producing the effective connection to the other plug connector part. <IMAGE>
