Abstract (en)

[origin: US5075235A] A process is described for direct determination of complex corrosive environmental conditions, which comprises exposing a glass surface to the environment and examing the glass surface before and after exposure using a measurement method based on radiation, in particular a IR-spectroscopic method, in order to determine corrosion effects, in particular water absorption and ion exchange. Glass sensors suitable for use in this process are likewise described.
