[origin: EP0330979A2] The invention relates to aqueous textile treatment compositions based on 1,3-dialkyl-4,5-dihydroxyimidazolidinones and selected polyhydric alcohols, in particular 1,6-hexanediol, and 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)-ethane and -propane. These compositions are used for the formaldehyde-free finishing of textile material consisting of or at least containing cellulose or regenerated cellulose fibres in order to confer crease and shrinkage resistance thereon. <??>The textile material thus treated possesses not only good crease and shrinkage resistance but also much improved whiteness, compared with the prior art.
